Job summary

Avantos is building the AI-native operating system for financial services, and as Principal Designer you will own the design system end-to-end and lead design on the Agent Portal, the core product surface. This is a senior IC role where you set the craft bar as the team scales, shaping how design works at Avantos.

Design here moves fast; you prototype in code, build AI tooling, and continually refine processes. Judgment, taste, and scalable patterns define quality at this level.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of product design experience with leadership beyond own projects.
• Deep expertise in interaction, IA, visual craft and system thinking.
• Track record of authoring design systems, tenets, or patterns.
• Mastery of Figma and evolving a design system as a living set of patterns.
• Prototyping in code and with AI rather than only in design tools.
• Curiosity about how AI and design intersect with software and teams.

Responsibilities

• Own the Avantos design system end-to-end: library, tokens, patterns.
• Set craft direction across design through shared patterns and tenets.
• Lead design on the Agent Portal; system ships first and is pressure-tested.
• Evolve design tenets with the Head of Design to codify Avantos design.
• Mentor designers via critique and rationale-driven thinking.
• Represent design in cross-functional conversations requiring craft judgment.
