Placements24 seeks a Principal Data Scientist to lead complex data science initiatives on a fully remote team. You will drive model development, experimentation, and deployment across large datasets, influencing product strategy and business operations.

Qualifications

• Master's or Ph.D. in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years of progressive experience in data science, with a strong focus on machine learning and statistical modeling.
• Proven experience leading significant data science initiatives and delivering measurable business value.
• Expertise in Python or R and libraries such as scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Pandas, NumPy.
• Deep understanding of ML algorithms (regression, classification, clustering, deep learning) and stats techniques.
• Experience with large-scale datasets and distributed computing (e.g., Spark).
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and their data/ML services.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to thrive in a self-directed, remote work environment.
• Experience with data visualization tools is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end development and deployment of ML models and analytical solutions.
• Design and conduct A/B tests and experiments to validate hypotheses and measure impact.
• Explore, clean, and transform large, complex datasets from various sources.
• Develop predictive models, forecasting systems, and optimization algorithms.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, and business teams to identify data-driven improvements.
• Communicate complex findings clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Mentor junior data scientists and advance the data science practice within the organization.
• Stay at the forefront of ML, AI, and data science research and methodologies.
• Develop robust data pipelines and ensure scalability and performance of solutions.
• Ensure ethical and responsible use of data and AI models.
