Job summary

EXL is hiring a Principal Data Scientist to be our top technical voice in data science. You will turn business problems into practical ML and GenAI solutions and ensure the wider team can build, deploy and maintain them.

Responsibilities include translating ambiguous problems into scoped solutions, designing end-to-end data systems, and mentoring data scientists across time zones. Strong Python/SQL and statistical knowledge are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics or related quantitative field.
• 9+ years in data science or applied ML with production experience.
• Strong Python and SQL; experience with scikit-learn, pandas, PyTorch or TensorFlow.
• Deep knowledge of statistics, experimental design and ML techniques.
• Proven experience designing scalable data science solutions with documentation.

Responsibilities

• Translate business problems into data science solutions with clear success metrics.
• Design end-to-end solutions from data requirements to deployment.
• Build reusable components and templates for the team.
• Mentor data scientists and ML engineers; lead knowledge sharing.
