Ladders is seeking a Principal Data Scientist to shape the technical direction of advanced modeling efforts in the Finance & Insurance space. This remote US-based role partners with senior leaders to align modeling strategy with business priorities and raise standards across a growing data science function.

You will lead high-impact initiatives from concept through production, with strong communication skills and depth in modeling, Python, SQL, and cloud deployment.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of hands-on experience with advanced statistical and machine learning techniques.
• Deep experience building and deploying credit risk models in fintech or financial services.
• Proven track record of leading impactful data science initiatives from concept to production.
• Expertise in Python, SQL, and Git.
• Experience with cloud deployment, such as AWS, and workflow orchestration tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and deployment of complex statistical and machine learning models.
• Drive end-to-end delivery of major data science initiatives.
• Establish the technical strategy for the modeling ecosystem.
• Collaborate with senior leaders to shape the data science roadmap and business strategy.
• Define standards for model development and documentation.
• Mentor data scientists at all levels to raise technical competency.
• Communicate technical concepts effectively to executive and non-technical audiences.
