Job summary

Whirl AI, Inc. seeks a Principal IC to own the data backbone powering our agents, from API ingestion to agentic insights. You’ll own end-to-end data platform responsibilities in a fast-moving, enterprise-focused environment.

Responsibilities include defining platform standards for performance, security, data governance, and observability; shaping data layer design; mentoring senior engineers; and representing the data platform in strategic customer conversations.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of industry experience in data platforms or distributed systems.
• Proven track record directing technical direction for long-lived systems.
• Experience building for enterprise customers with strong security and governance.

Responsibilities

• Own the full vertical from API ingestion to agentic data discovery and workflows.
• Define platform standards for performance, reliability, security and governance.
• Shape how agents interact with customer data and design the data layer.
• Elevate engineering through architecture reviews, writing and mentorship.
• Be the senior technical voice with customers and Product in strategic talks.
• Operate autonomously on open-ended problems and provide clarity to progress.
