Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in information systems, data management, business or related field.
• 5+ years leading data governance initiatives in a large enterprise.
• Knowledge of DAMA-DMBOK and data governance frameworks.
• Experience with semantic models, metadata and master data.
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Familiarity with data privacy and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead metadata management, data lineage, and data catalog initiatives.
• Define governance policies, standards, and data product lifecycles.
• Resolve governance issues through structured decision-making.
• Establish measurable governance outcomes and senior leadership reporting.
• Create reusable frameworks and reference materials for data domains.
• Lead cross-functional initiatives with undefined requirements.
• Influence semantic layer development for AI project use.
• Develop standardized data meanings readable by humans and machines.
• Partner with technical teams on metric definitions for new data products.
• Align data definitions with business objectives and stakeholder needs.
• Facilitate governance councils and translate concepts between business and tech.
• Identify gaps and propose scalable governance solutions.
• Support GDPR, SOX, CCPA, HIPAA compliance with governance controls.
• Mentor junior analysts as a data governance SME.
