Job summary

Vuori is hiring a Principal Data Engineer in Carlsbad, CA to design, build, and scale data pipelines for analytics. You will own the full pipeline lifecycle from raw data ingestion to curated serving layers, partnering with data scientists and product teams to raise the technical bar.

You will implement robust ingestion from REST, CSV, JSON, XML and SFTP sources, build resilient API extractors, and flatten semi-structured data into Snowflake.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory (ADF) - pipelines, data flows, linked services, integration runtimes, and triggers.
• Experience extracting and normalizing raw data from heterogeneous sources: REST APIs, flat files, JSON/XML, and SFTP/blob-based drops.
• Comfortable writing extraction logic that handles pagination, authentication, and incremental sync patterns.
• Experience parsing and modeling semi-structured data within a cloud data warehouse (e.g., Snowflake VARIANT/FLATTEN).
• 8+ years of experience in data engineering or a related field, including senior/lead level.
• Strong proficiency in SQL and at least one programming language (Python, Scala, or Java).
• Experience with dbt or similar transformation frameworks.
• Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, ARM/Bicep) and CI/CD practices.
• Exposure to real-time analytics or streaming technologies.

Responsibilities

• Move data through full pipeline lifecycle - raw/src, staging, and curated layers for analytics consumption.
• Build and maintain Azure Data Factory pipelines to orchestrate ingestion and transformation across layers.
• Design ingestion patterns for REST APIs, flat files, JSON/XML, and SFTP/blob sources into src layer.
• Develop robust API extraction logic with pagination, auth, and incremental pulls.
• Parse and flatten nested JSON into queryable Snowflake structures.
• Handle scale in file ingestion, validation, backfill, and schema enforcement.
• Contribute to CI/CD for ADF pipelines using Azure DevOps/GitHub Actions across environments.
• Set technical standards and mentor other data engineers on best practices.
