Job summary

Morgan Stanley, Parametric team, seeks a Principal Data Engineer to lead data pipeline design, architecture, and mentoring. You will guide a team in building scalable, cloud-native data solutions for analytics, AI, and governance across our data platforms.

You will collaborate with business and technical stakeholders, ensuring data quality, security, and timely delivery while advancing modern data ecosystems and best practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Computer Science, Mathematics, or Engineering or equivalent work experience.
• 10+ years of data engineering, data science, or software engineering experience.
• 3+ years of experience with Snowflake.
• 4+ years of experience in AWS cloud stack including S3, IAM, Athena, SNS, SQS, and EMR.
• 6+ years of SQL Server and experience with SSIS and SSRS.
• Demonstrated success providing expert technical guidance and team leadership.
• Capability of architecting highly scalable distributed systems using open-source tools.
• Highly skilled in leading teams using Agile development processes (Kanban/Scrum).
• Expert knowledge of data modeling and understanding data structures and their benefits.

Responsibilities

• AI & Automation Integration: Design and implement data pipelines for ML, AI, and real-time analytics.
• Modern Data Architecture: Build scalable cloud-native architectures (Data Mesh, Lakehouse, streaming).
• Data Governance & Ethics: Enforce responsible AI practices and data privacy.
• Performance Optimization: Optimize queries and manage cost-efficient cloud operations.
• Legacy Modernization: Reimagine legacy systems with containers, serverless, and orchestration.
• Collaboration & Leadership: Lead and mentor a diverse team with stakeholders.
• Documentation & Standards: Maintain runbooks, specs, and diagrams.
• Security & Resilience: Implement zero-trust and disaster recovery strategies.
• Continuous Innovation: Evaluate new tech and integrate where applicable.
