Job summary

Barry-Wehmiller Design Group in Dallas, TX seeks a Principal, Architecture + Engineering for Life Sciences and Data Center projects. You will lead multi-disciplinary teams, drive design from programming through construction documents, and oversee client engagements to deliver high-quality solutions.

The role requires 10+ years in facilities architectural and engineering design, strong knowledge of code studies, ISO clean rooms, and experience with Revit/AutoCAD. Travel support provided.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 10 years of facilities architectural & engineering design experience, with ability to lead the facility design from programming through construction documents.
• Prior working knowledge of code studies/evaluations for life science facilities and hazardous/classified areas.
• Strong knowledge of local, state, and federal building codes (IBC in particular).
• Experience in development and creation of construction documents for life sciences.
• Experience in design of ISO clean rooms, labs, and processing spaces.
• Experience coordinating design with process engineers on industrial installations of production equipment (preferred).
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to interact effectively with team and clients.
• Willingness to travel for project requirements including installation, meetings, trainings, and industry events.
• Licensed professional Engineer or Architect.

Responsibilities

• Lead architectural & engineering design for Data Center projects and coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams.
• Develop architectural & engineering solutions for clients’ business needs as part of an integrated team.
• Stamp and sign construction documents and oversee permit processes.
• Conduct project site visits and act as construction administrator.
• Define facility program requirements based on client production flow and space needs.
• Create renderings communicating concepts to clients.
• Develop base plan and communicate requirements to other disciplines.
• Oversee preparation of plans and documents for permits and construction.
• Respond to RFIs and review submittals during pre-construction and construction phases.
• Mentor junior staff and lead technical discussions with clients.
