Job Summary
We are looking for a Principal Data/Information Architect to join our Data Architecture team. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned data architecture expert with extensive experience in cloud-based systems, data integration, and data governance. This role will involve designing and implementing enterprise-level data architecture solutions that align with strategic business goals, while also mentoring technical teams and guiding innovation in analytics and modernization initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect and Design Scalable Solutions: Lead the design and implementation of end-to-end data architectures across structured and unstructured systems; ensure scalability, security, and efficiency.
- Data Integration and Management: Develop and implement real-time and batch processing solutions; enable seamless data flow across cloud and application environments.
- Support Analytics and BI: Collaborate with analytics, BI, and data science teams to develop data models that support actionable business insights.
- Reference Architecture Leadership: Assemble and maintain reference architectures to support cloud migration and cloud-native application development.
- Strategic Oversight and Innovation: Guide technical teams from project initiation to completion; stay ahead of trends in cloud, data, AI, and analytics technologies.
- Technology Evaluation: Conduct build-vs-buy analyses; lead proof-of-concepts for new data and integration tools.
- Stakeholder Engagement and Governance: Partner with business leaders, data stewards, and security teams to ensure alignment with business and regulatory requirements.
- Security and Compliance: Implement data security frameworks including encryption, data masking, and access controls to meet privacy and compliance standards.
- Cost Optimization: Identify opportunities for simplification, automation, and reduction of technical debt.
- Leadership Growth: Opportunity to transition into broader leadership roles based on performance and skill development.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field (Master’s preferred).
- Experience: 10+ years in large-scale data architecture; 8+ years in cloud-native data platforms and integration.
- Skills: Expertise in Python, SQL/NoSQL, BigQuery, Spark, Kafka, Airflow, Cloud Composer; experience with Azure, AWS, and preferably Google Cloud.
- Certifications: Relevant cloud or data architecture certifications are a plus.
- Other: Strong leadership, communication, and strategic thinking; able to engage technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of data governance frameworks, master data management, and data cataloging.
- Hands-on experience in DevOps/CI-CD pipelines and modern cloud technology stacks.
- Familiarity with data frameworks like Data Mesh, Data Fabric, Data Lakehouse, and Lambda architectures.
- Experience with BI tools like MicroStrategy, Tableau, ThoughtSpot, and Power BI.
- Background in healthcare or regulated industries highly preferred.
