Job summary

Waracle seeks a Principal Data & AI Consultant for a hybrid role based at Dundee, London, or Glasgow, with about two days per week in the office.

You will design data pipelines, govern data, translate business needs into technical roadmaps, and enable AI/ML applications while modernising cloud data platforms across AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud. You will mentor colleagues and shape client proposals.

Qualifications

• Experience with data modelling, ETL/ELT, and databases.
• Fluency in Python, SQL, PySpark; familiarity with SSIS, Airflow, Spark, Databricks, Fabric.
• Experience with at least one cloud provider (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud).
• Understanding of how AI fits into data landscapes; interest in LLMs and MLOps.
• Leadership in multi-squad environments and shaping technical proposals.

Principal Data & AI Consultant – Waracle is a digital technology consultancy. This Hybrid role is based at Dundee, London, or Glasgow, with around 2 days per week in office.

Key Aspects of the Role Include

• Architecture & Vision: Designing, developing, and maintaining robust data pipelines using batch and streaming processing, championing data governance, security, privacy, and legislatory compliance.

• Acting as a Trusted Advisor: Translating complex business challenges into clear technical roadmaps, communicating with executive stakeholders and non-technical peers.

• Enabling Innovation: Designing usable data models and building reliable foundations that empower advanced analytics, LLMs, and AI/ML applications.

• Modernising Infrastructure: Overseeing the evolution of cloud data platforms to maximize performance, reduce latency, and optimize cloud costs across AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.

• Growth & Strategy: Contributing to Waracle's technical direction, shaping new business proposals, and nurturing deep client relationships.

• Empowering People: Fostering an inclusive environment through collaborative leadership, resolving organisational challenges, and mentoring colleagues.

What You'll Bring

• Core Data Engineering Foundation: Practical experience with data modelling, ETL/ELT, and various database technologies.
