# Principal Customer Solutions EngineerRocket SoftwareFull-timeUnited States, Remote0 viewsPosted September 29, 2026## Job DescriptionThe Customer Solutions Engineer a highly skilled Mainframe Modernization Senior Consultant to provide technical support and/or leadership in the creation and delivery of technology solutions designed to support our Customers’ Digital TransformationThe ideal candidate will possess deep technical skill and relevant project experience in at least one of the following focus areas:Requirements:- Provide services to customers (75%)- Works on complex project scope with minimal direction from with Customer/SI nominated representatives to accomplish assigned tasks.- Contributes to design for specific deliverables and assists in the deployment Rocket products- Contribute to implement new solutions under the direction of Delivery Architects- Create proof of concept / proof of value technology analysis and pilots.- Conduct external and internal technical presentations/trainings to peer groups.- Uses and contributes to technical forums within the Rocket AMC environment and local professional communities and technical user groups.- Applies own subject matter knowledge to solve a variety of common technical issues.- Exercises independent judgment within defined practices and procedures to determine appropriate action- Participates as part of a team and maintains good relationships with team members and customers.Team Leadership (25%)- Ultimately accountable for Technical solution implementation for project.- Leads a team and communicates project status and risks to all project stakeholders on behalf of the team.- Use technical experience to give customer sound technical advice.- Responsible for knowing the Architecture, versions, and requirements.- Responsible for determining appropriate technical resource requirements for project completion. Works with PM to request resources.- Coordinating with PM on technical communication to customer, any new requirements or changes in scope and impacts to delivering the technical solution.- Determine if change is a product defect or enhancement before communicating to customer.- Responsible for estimating new requirements of Project and gaining Architect or Manager approval.- Conducting or assigning code reviews.## Requirements & SkillsExpected Qualification and Soft Skills- 5-7 years of relevant technical experience- Excellent communication / customer service skills / confident telephone manner- Proactive and able to work under pressure- Experience in complex IT project implementations, customizations and or maintenance- Must have an analytical mind set to analyse test result and facilitate defect resolution- Organized and methodical, dealing with numerous tasks.- Fluent in written and verbal English.Requested Technical skills- Technical skills to include two or more of the following:- **IBM Enterprise COBOL** or PLI programming experience- System level experience of **IBM CICS**; **IMS** and **JCL**- Relational databases, such as IBM DB2/UDB, **Oracle**, **Microsoft SQL Server**; **PostgreSQL**- **Windows** operating system- Linux/UNIX operating system- Knowledge of major Cloud Provider infrastructure and technologies, such as **AWS**, **Azure**, **GCP**, **Cloud Foundry**, **Docker** / **Kubernetes**Desired Project Experience- A practical experience of mainframe application modernization project is highly desirable.
