Quantinuum, headquartered in Broomfield, Colorado, seeks a Principal Mechanical Design Engineer – Cryo Vacuum Systems to design mechanical hardware for cryogenic, UHV, and precision optical systems in trapped-ion quantum computing hardware. You will develop cryogenic assemblies, manage parasitic heat loads, and deliver robust mechanical solutions in collaboration with scientists and design teams.

The role demands a hands-on designer with >7 years of experience, strong CAD/FEA skills, GD&T

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree minimum in mechanical engineering or related field.
• 7+ years of hands‑on mechanical design experience with complex hardware.
• U.S. Person status required; must be eligible for U.S. government work.
• Not a PRC or Russian national unless U.S. citizen per policy.

Responsabilités

• Design mechanical hardware for cryogenic and UHV trapped-ion systems.
• Develop ion-trap packages, cryogenic assemblies, and precision mounting.
• Analyze thermal, vibration, and assembly tolerances to guide designs.
• Create CAD models, drawings, and interface definitions.
• Collaborate with vacuum, cryogenic, optical, and systems teams to mitigate risks.
• Support test plans and de-risk fixtures for lab validation.
