Position Overview
Our client, a government contractor supporting defense and intelligence programs, is seeking an experienced Principal Contracts Administrator to serve as a senior member of the Contracts organization.
This individual will act as the primary contractual point of contact for assigned programs, advising Program Management and Integrated Product Teams on contract strategy, execution, risk, compliance, and customer relationships. The position requires extensive experience administering and negotiating federal prime contracts and major U.S. Government subcontracts, particularly services-based programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary contractual advisor and customer-facing point of contact for assigned programs.
- Advise Program Management and leadership on contract terms, obligations, risks, compliance, and business strategy.
- Administer complex federal contracts throughout the contract lifecycle.
- Review proposals and contractual documents for compliance with company policies, customer requirements, and government regulations.
- Negotiate contract terms and conditions for services, materials, and program changes.
- Review and negotiate NDAs, Teaming Agreements, and other contractual agreements.
- Support complex bids, proposals, contract negotiations, and new-business opportunities.
- Assist with preparation and review of cost proposals, pricing narratives, modifications, and changes.
- Manage multiple contract types, including FFP, T&M, and Cost-Reimbursable contracts.
- Identify contractual risks, develop mitigation strategies, and resolve complex contract-performance issues.
- Interpret contract terms and advise internal stakeholders regarding contractual rights and responsibilities.
- Ensure contract execution complies with FAR, DFARS, customer requirements, and internal policies.
- Coordinate closely with Program Management, Finance, Legal, Supply Chain, Operations, and other functional teams.
- Participate in customer negotiations and maintain strong relationships with government and prime-contractor customers.
- Support business-unit planning and program coordination meetings.
- Present contractual options, risks, and recommendations to senior leadership.
- Maintain accurate contract records and ensure deadlines, deliverables, and contractual obligations are met.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Contracts, Finance, Legal Studies, or a related field.
- 7-10+ years of federal contract administration/management experience.
- Strong experience supporting U.S. Government prime contracts and/or major government subcontracts.
- Significant experience administering services contracts.
- Active TS/SCI clearance with CI Polygraph required.
- Strong working knowledge of FAR and DFARS.
- Experience negotiating contract terms and conditions for services and materials.
- Experience managing FFP, T&M, and Cost-type contracts.
- Experience supporting complex proposals, negotiations, contract modifications, and new-business activities.
- Strong ability to assess contractual risk and develop negotiation and mitigation strategies.
- Demonstrated ability to work directly with government customers, prime contractors, Program Managers, and senior leadership.
- Strong written, verbal, analytical, organizational, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to independently manage multiple contracts and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting the Intelligence Community or intelligence-related programs.
- Familiarity with Deltek Costpoint.
- Strong cross-functional business and financial acumen.
- Experience working within an Integrated Product Team environment.
