Job summary

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory seeks engineers to join the Los Angeles Class Instrumentation and Control group. You will gain experience testing, fleet support, and developing systems knowledge to support current fleet platforms, including the S6G Moored Training Ships.

This is a great opportunity to directly support the operating fleet while also being able to feed lessons learned to future designs. Specific responsibilities may include: Qualification as an I&C systems engineer, resolving fleet

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in a related technical, engineering or science field with minimum 9 years experience; or Master’s with 7 years; or Doctorate with 3 years; or currently a Principal Reactor Training Engineer, Refueling Engineer, or Field (RPCO) Engineer.

Responsibilities

  • Qualification as an I&C systems engineer and understanding of system operation.
  • Resolution of operating fleet and shipyard issues.
  • Documentation of technical recommendations in formal correspondence.
  • Writing and verifying reactor plant procedures.
  • Leading efforts to reduce routine maintenance burden.
  • Work on data analytics of fleet data.
  • Lead innovation initiatives to improve I&C for S6G project and power plant community.

Job Description

Fleet Power Plant Engineering is seeking engineers to join the Los Angeles Class Instrumentation and Control (I&C) systems group. This position offers experience in testing, fleet support, and development of systems and operations knowledge to support current Los Angeles Class fleet platforms, including the S6G Moored Training Ships. This is a great opportunity to directly support the operating fleet while also being able to feed lessons learned to future designs.

Specific responsibilities may include:

  • Qualification as an I&C systems engineer - developing a deep understanding of expected system operation
  • Resolution of operating fleet and shipyard technical issues
  • Documentation of technical recommendations in formal correspondence
  • Writing and verifying reactor plant procedures
  • Leading efforts to identify areas where the Navy can reduce the burden of routine maintenance
  • Work on data analytics of fleet data
  • Lead innovation initiatives that help to improve reactor I&C for the S6G project and the rest of the power plant electrical community
Required Combination Of Knowledge And Skill

Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience; or Masters degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience; or Doctorate degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering, science field and a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience; or Currently a Principal Reactor Training Engineer, Refueling Engineer, or Field (RPCO) Engineer at the Company.

Pay Range

$117,900.00 - $184,300.00 annually

Salary information provided is a general guideline only. Annual salary is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is operated for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) by Fluor Marine Propulsion, LLC (FMP), a wholly owned subsidiary of Fluor Corporation. Naval Nuclear Laboratory personnel are FMP employees who work at four DOE facilities: Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory, Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory, Kenneth A. Kesselring Site, and Naval Reactors Facility, and at the U.S. Department of Defense-owned Nuclear Power Training Unit-Charleston. FMP employees also have an established presence at numerous shipyards and vendor locations. For nearly 70 years, the Naval Nuclear Laboratory has developed advanced nuclear propulsion technology, provided technical support, and trained world-class nuclear operators to ensure the safe and reliable operation of our nation's submarine and aircraft carrier Fleets. The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is a national asset solely dedicated to the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program.
