Job summary

Oracle is seeking a Principal Member of Technical Staff to shape Lightweight Infrastructure for OCI, focusing on scalable, fault-tolerant distributed systems. You will lead architecture, define KPIs, implement automation, and mentor teammates to raise the technical bar across platform areas.

You will collaborate across teams to translate broad platform goals into concrete designs, overseeing critical components from design through delivery and operation in a large cloud environment.

Qualifications

• BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
• 6–10+ years of software engineering experience building highly available, scalable distributed systems or cloud infrastructure.
• Strong programming skills in Java, Go, Rust, C/C++, or a similar systems language.
• Deep experience in core infrastructure areas: distributed systems, cloud control planes, scheduling, virtualization, storage, networking, security, reliability, or platform automation.
• Ability to independently lead design and delivery of complex services that are correct, resilient, observable, and operable.
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills for production and performance issues.
• Experience collaborating across teams and turning platform goals into clear designs and executable plans.
• Ability to mentor and perform design/code reviews to raise the technical bar.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and begin architecting components of scalable distributed systems.
• Define scalability requirements and optimize for high-throughput workloads.
• Design systems to scale with elasticity and leverage data plane platforms for large-scale data operations.
• Design fault-tolerant components with redundancy, replication, and failover.
• Define KPIs and telemetry; build dashboards and alerts for system health.
• Design test scenarios (fault-injection, brown-out) to verify correctness.
• Develop automation and IaC to manage cloud infrastructure and patching processes.
• Contribute to incident response and operational readiness.
