Job Summary
At Effectv, we're building a data-driven future, and we need a Principal Data Architect to lead the way! We are seeking someone with extensive experience in architecting data solutions within the media & entertainment landscape. The ideal candidate will simplify how we measure and understand our customers' needs, ultimately driving better business decisions and customer experiences. This role involves working closely with engineering teams to design and build secure, cost-effective, and high-performing cloud solutions, as well as collaborating across the company to innovate and deliver cutting-edge cloud services and platforms. You will also lead efforts to create a scalable, reliable, and user-friendly private cloud offering, guiding junior engineers and project teams, and setting precedents for the business and technology.
Core Responsibilities
- Collaborate across application and data teams to orchestrate data solutions that meet transactional, analytics, and data science needs.
- Propose solutions focusing on cost optimization, reducing data hops, ensuring high availability and performance, aligned with Effectv’s strategic goals of becoming a data-driven organization.
- Ensure solutions adhere to Comcast’s policies on data privacy and security.
- Design and manage robust, scalable data models and semantic layers.
- Build prototypes and publish design patterns for organizational use.
- Provide guidance on cloud adoption and migration techniques.
- Work with the data governance team to identify and monitor critical data elements.
- Collaborate with partners like AWS, Databricks, Snowflake to meet growing organizational needs.
- Facilitate architectural discussions and design exercises for world-class cloud solutions.
- Gather requirements from internal and external stakeholders.
- Conduct surveys, brainstorming sessions, and analyses to understand business needs and feasibility.
- Analyze options to make build vs. buy decisions.
- Identify gaps in technology and skills for solution implementation.
- Guide teams working on data center and network infrastructure deployment plans.
- Promote industry and company technology standards.
- Partner with business leaders to develop data architecture roadmaps that enable data-driven decision making.
- Mentor and lead data engineers and architects, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence.
- Exercise independent judgment and discretion in significant matters.
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance; work nights and weekends as necessary.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Industry experience in measurement and attribution within media & entertainment is preferred.
- Experience with cloud data architecture, data integration, storage, and processing (e.g., AWS Glue, Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Redshift, Azure Synapse, BigQuery, Snowflake), and third-party integrations (e.g., Salesforce, D365).
- Understanding of modern cloud data architectures and engineering for AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Experience building dimensional data models and semantic layers; familiarity with tools like AtScale or Cube.dev is preferred.
- Proficiency in data modeling for various workloads (OLTP, OLAP, streaming) and formats.
- Leadership in creating cloud data migration, integration, and warehouse plans, roadmaps, and success metrics.
- Experience with Master and Reference Data Management strategies.
- Strong understanding of data governance practices.
- Ability to architect data solutions using native cloud capabilities across data ingestion, storage, processing, virtualization, and visualization.
- Experience designing high availability, scalable, and efficient data architectures supporting analytics, AI, and ML.
- Ability to create detailed documentation of data architecture, flows, and integration patterns.
- Familiarity with message-driven architectures for decoupled applications and data services.
- Certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect or Databricks are a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field with 10+ years of relevant experience.
