Job summary

Akamai is seeking a Principal Software Engineer Lead to design and scale ARM64 compute platforms and hypervisor layers for the Akamai Connected Cloud. You will architect, implement, review, and test production-grade code while guiding hardware enablement and multi-architecture deployments across global teams.

Lead the development of cross-platform build pipelines, optimize workload performance, and align product strategy with customer needs.

Qualifications

12 years of relevant experience
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent
Deep familiarity with ARM64/AArch64 and x86_64 server platforms
Experience with cross-compilation toolchains, system profiling, multi-architecture deployment
Experience with cloud compute virtualization technologies (KVM, QEMU) and container runtimes
Linux system APIs and hypervisor integration experience
Experience in technical design, product specification reviews, and backlog planning
Ability to lead engineers and work with global teams to develop new compute features

Responsibilities

Architect and scale high-density ARM64 compute platform functionality and hypervisor layers across ACC
Design, implement, review, document, and test high-quality code with the team
Lead technical strategy for hardware enablement, cross-platform build pipelines, and workload performance
Collaborate with peers and global teams to build compute features or resolve low-level bugs
Provide organizational and functional leadership to a team of engineers
