Job summary

Akamai Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Principal Product Manager to lead the multi-year vision, strategy, and execution for Akamai Cloud developer tooling. You will shape API tooling, SDKs, CLIs, and IaC offerings while aligning with OpenAPI, API Gateway, and security standards.

You will guide the evolution of enterprise API paths, improve platform performance, and drive AI-first workflows for developers across multiple platforms, ensuring a consistent developer experience.

Qualifications

• 15 years of relevant experience or equivalent
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent
• Experience designing REST, gRPC, or GraphQL APIs and delivering developer tools like CLIs, SDKs, and Terraform providers
• Solid expertise in API Gateway architectures, traffic management, and authentication protocols such as OAuth2 and mTLS
• Proven track record evolving mature developer platforms and managing breaking-change lifecycles without disrupting workloads
• Familiar with LLM function calling, AI agent frameworks, and Model Context Protocol
• Knowledge of open-source developer ecosystems, IaC automation communities, and cloud platforms

Responsibilities

• Crafting and driving the multi-year vision, product strategy, and execution roadmap for Akamai Cloud developer tooling
• Modernizing brownfield enterprise API paths while elevating API quality, consistency, and platform performance
• Pioneering next-generation developer interfaces for AI agents and LLM-driven workflows using Model Context Protocol endpoints
• Collaborating with engineering on API design guidelines, OpenAPI standards, schema governance, and API Gateway capabilities
• Overseeing product development for official developer tools including CLI, SDKs, and Infrastructure as Code providers
• Influencing strategy of streamlining and unifying the Developer Experience across multiple platforms to ensure consistency and efficiency
