Job summary

CesiumAstro in Austin, TX seeks a Principal CAD Designer to lead advanced CAD design and drafting for satellites and aerospace systems. You will create and maintain 3D models, drawings, and documentation, ensure accuracy, and manage CAD data within PDM while collaborating with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams.

Ideal candidates have 7+ years of CAD experience, strong SolidWorks skills, and a solid grasp of GD&T, BOMs, engineering change control, and ERP/PLM systems.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent in a drafting/engineering field.
• 7+ years CAD design/drafting in manufacturing or aerospace.
• Proficient in SolidWorks and engineering documentation standards.
• Familiar with GD&T and BOM management.

Responsibilities

• Provide advanced CAD drafting and design support using SolidWorks.
• Create and maintain 3D models, assemblies, and drawings with detailed documentation.
• Ensure conformance to GD&T, standards, and change control procedures.
• Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and programs teams.
