Job summary

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems Targets Program seeks a Principal Engineer Aeronautic or Sr Principal Engineer Aeronautic to be the Vehicle Management Subsystem (VMS) Hardware Avionics Lead in Rancho Bernardo, CA.

The Lead will direct vehicle flight control and safety functions, provide technical direction, and oversee cross-functional integration across power, qualification testing, production, and obsolescence mitigation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in STEM required or 5+ years of related experience.
• Master's degree in STEM with 3+ years of experience or PhD with 0+ years accepted.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a US government clearance.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and MATLAB.

Responsibilities

• Lead system-level trade studies and architecture development.
• Translate mission needs into hardware requirements and maintain traceability.
• Design and size power distribution harnesses, components, and interfaces.
• Plan and document qualification testing and report results.
• Develop and maintain test automation tools using Python or MATLAB.
• Support production, sustainment, and obsolescence mitigation tasks.
• Prepare SOWs, BOEs, and other contract artifacts.
