Job summary

Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc. (SGA) seeks a Principal Systems Engineer for Autonomy & Active Safety in Oshkosh, WI on a contract basis.

You will design, develop and test embedded software, focusing on real-time control, sensor processing, and vehicle interfaces, with emphasis on safety and reliability. You will develop requirements, system architecture and test plans, and coordinate across teams and suppliers to deliver complex systems for autonomous and unmanned platforms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or computer sciences with 5+ years of relevant work.
• Master's degree with 2+ years of work experience acceptable as alternative.
• 5+ years embedded C/C++ programming experience and testing in vehicle contexts.
• Experience with CAN Bus, Ethernet, V2V networked communications.
• Familiarity with MIL-STD-882E, ISO 26262, IEC 61508 safety standards.
• Willingness to travel 10–20% for field tests and evaluations.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to design, development and testing of embedded software for active safety and autonomy.
• Develop requirements and system architecture for vehicle control systems.
• Create comprehensive test plans to verify safety and reliability.
• Perform testing across simulation and real-world platforms; travel as needed.
• Collaborate with suppliers and customers; peer review software.
• Follow CMMI and software safety processes; ensure policy compliance.
• Evaluate designs for performance, safety, and reliability; prepare proposals and reports.
