NeoMatrix, Inc. in the Greater Philadelphia area is seeking a Principal DeltaV Automation Engineer to lead DeltaV projects and help build the DeltaV practice for life sciences. This hands-on role requires deep DeltaV expertise, client leadership, and strategic contribution to the practice's growth.

You will mentor engineers, drive design and testing, and collaborate across functions while traveling up to 30% and supporting hybrid/remote work arrangements.

Qualifications

  • BS degree in engineering or equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years of engineering and project experience with Emerson DeltaV DCS.
  • 5+ years in GMP life sciences environments.

Job Description:

The Principal Automation Engineer (DeltaV) will report directly to the DeltaV Practice Lead and provide direct engineering support to clients as well as contribute to the development and maturation of NeoMatrix’s DeltaV practice.This is a unique and exciting opportunity composed of technical, strategic and organizational responsibilities.This is a hands‑on role, requiring deep subject matter expertise, technical leadership, and experience executing DeltaV projects in the life sciences industry.This role will influence the organizational infrastructure, ways of working, and culture of the DeltaV practice. In this role, you will leverage your technical acumen, leadership traits and reputation/network to both: i.) execute/deliver for customers and ii.) contribute to the shaping and success of a new DeltaV organization.

The primary responsibility of this role is to execute and lead scopes of work for the customer.However, at any given time, responsibilities of this role will vary across a mix of elements.

Customer engagement and fulfillment
  • 1. Perform scopes of work to meet customer needs and fulfill NeoMatrix commitments.
  • Ad hoc consultation, assessment, and report/recommendation generation.Client representation.

  • All aspects of automation projects, including: business feasibility, solution design development, front

    end engineering and design (FEED) studies, software design, implementation & testing, factory & site

    acceptance testing, commissioning & qualification, go-live support & hypercare.

  • Operational staff augmentation, system troubleshooting & break/fix support.
  • As needed, provide technical and project leadership to other engineers to fulfill scopes of work.
Support the development/maturation of the DeltaV practice
  • Contribute to the design and development of organizational elements such as procedures, best practices, productivity tools, and training material.
  • Provide mentorship, coaching, and matrix leadership to other engineers.
  • As needed, serve as a direct line manager to other engineers.

Location:
  • Hybrid
  • This role requires the ability to commute to the greater Philadelphia area.
  • As needed, this role will require travel to customer locations.
  • It is estimated this role will require 30% travel.
Mandatory Qualifications:
  • B.S. in Engineering discipline or equivalent experience/knowledge.
  • At least eight (8) years of experience of direct engineering & project experience with Emerson DeltaV DCS.
  • At least five (5) years of working in a good manufacturing practices (GMP) life sciences environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience leading a matrixed project team to deliver manufacturing technology projects (e.g. Emerson DeltaV)
  • Direct leadership experience.Have led teams – managed performance, driven development, etc.
  • Experience with the design, implementation and testing of integrated DeltaV solutions, inclusive of networking/communications to equipment (e.g. PLC based skids), instrumentation (e.g. analytical equipment) and systems (e.g. PAS-X Werum, Ignition).
  • Direct manufacturing experience within a Life Sciences company.
