MediaTek in San Jose, CA, is seeking a Principal Architect to lead AI-enabled mobile system design and strategic innovations for next-generation products. You will align market needs with software-hardware codesign, shaping roadmaps and technical solutions across geos while mentoring diverse engineering teams.

The role requires deep expertise from software stack to hardware accelerators, strong communication, and a track record of leading AI-driven mobile projects.

Qualifications

• MS or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related majors preferred.
• 10+ years experiences in system software, Android stack, software-hardware codesign, hardware acceleration.
• 5+ years experiences in AI/ML-based mobile products and system development.
• Bilingual with English and Mandarin.
• Strong experience in strategic planning and technology innovation for mobile system.
• Proven experience in architecting device AI system with a successful track record.
• Strong experience in leading cross-geo teams in multicultural and multinational environments.

Responsibilities

• Perform in-depth technical analyses and trend studies on mobile system enabled by AI technology with cloud and/or local models.
• Evaluate current mobile system on its performance, power, and user experience in supporting new user experiences with AI.
• Lead and propose strategic innovations in mobile system architecture through software-hardware codesign for best AI experiences.
• Work closely with engineering leaders and product managers to transform market demands into product roadmaps and technical solutions.
• Stay at the forefront of Generative AI and mobile technology trends, and drive the adoption of best practices in software architecture and AI/ML integration.
• Mentor and guide cross-functional engineering teams in best practices for device system design and implementation.
• Support business development and customer-facing teams with technical expertise and solution proposals.

Job description

This is a leadership role on mobile system design for GAI era. The Principal Architect will be responsible for strategic innovations in GAI-oriented mobile system design, and technology development of next-generation AI-enabled products. The architect will work closely with engineering leaders and product managers across geo to investigate the status and trends of device technology in the era of GAI, propose strategic innovations for our leading platforms to win the market. The ideal candidate should be an expert and enthusiastic in mobile system design, from software stack down to hardware accelerators and software-hardware codesign; and possess strong soft skills in technology acumen, system abstraction, and technical communication. • Salary range: $180,000- $260,000
• Employee may be eligible for performance bonus, short and long term incentive programs. Actual total compensation will be dependent upon the individual's skills, experience and qualifications.
