Job summary

Amazon's Prime Video is seeking a Principal Applied Scientist to lead ML systems and AI innovations at scale. You will invent, prototype, and deploy groundbreaking AI solutions powering personalized experiences for global customers.

You will mentor scientists, influence roadmaps, and guide production deployment across discovery and personalization ecosystems using deep learning, RL, and generative models.

Qualifications

• PhD (or Master’s with 10+ years of applied experience) in machine learning, computer science, statistics, or a related field
• 8+ years experience designing, building, and deploying ML models for real-world business applications at scale
• Proven leadership in driving cross-functional ML/AI initiatives from ideation through production
• Strong programming with Python, Java, or C++, and experience with ML frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch)
• Deep expertise in recommender systems, search relevance, or large-scale personalization systems
• Experience with large-scale distributed systems (Hadoop, Spark)

Responsibilities

• Invent, prototype, and productionize large-scale AI solutions for Prime Video personalization and discovery using DL, generative AI, RL.
• Provide technical leadership and influence product vision through collaboration with engineers, PMs, and senior stakeholders
• Design and lead high-impact A/B tests and data analyses to guide product direction
• Raise technical bar through mentorship, reviews, and cross-team collaboration
• Stay ahead of trends to evolve long-term strategy and architecture
• Publish research internally and externally at top-tier venues
