For our client, we are seeking a Principal Applied AI Scientist to join the team of a leader in the Aerospace & Defense space.

This role will lead the design and deployment of AI solutions that turn geospatial and multimodal data into actionable intelligence. You will own production-grade AI/ML workflows spanning ingestion, preprocessing, training, evaluation, and inference, with a strong focus on scalability, reliability, and cost efficiency. The position partners closely with research, engineering, product, and domain experts to bring advanced reasoning models and synthetic data approaches into real-world operational use.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $150,000 - $220,000 annually

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy AI-driven applications that transform geospatial data into actionable insights
• Build and operate end-to-end AI/ML pipelines for data ingestion, preprocessing, and evaluation
• Productionize reasoning models and multimodal AI systems that integrate imagery and structured data
• Architect training and experimentation frameworks with automated pipelines and evaluation
• Create synthetic datasets to validate model performance in real-world environments
• Collaborate with domain experts and technical teams to address Earth intelligence challenges
• Optimize model performance for scalability, reliability, and cost efficiency on cloud infrastructure
• Implement and maintain production inference systems with monitoring and performance tracking

Qualifications

• MS or PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, AI, Applied Mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent experience
• 5+ years of experience building and deploying machine learning systems in production
• Demonstrated experience with end-to-end ML pipelines, including data processing and training automation
• Hands-on experience with deep learning models such as Vision-language models (VLMs) and multimodal learning
• Strong Python programming skills, with familiarity in ML frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or JAX
• Experience deploying models in production environments using cloud infrastructure
• Ability to collaborate across research, engineering, and product teams
