Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
• 60 months of relevant experience with technical sales of gas applications solutions and equipment to the metal treatment and metal processing industry.

Responsibilities

• Provide required project, applications and equipment engineering support for designated applications areas.
• Work with engineering project teams and provide technical expertise.
• Develop and implement engineering solutions, design, develop and implement projects.
• Understand technical processes for industrial gas applications and develop value propositions using Airgas solutions and equipment.
• Provide proactive technical sales support and business development to regional sales groups.
• Participate in new product/application identification and development, planning engineering strategies, determining department goals and creating implementation plans.
• Prepare and present technical and value‑based proposals to prospects/customers.
• Manage all aspects of customer relationships from initial contact through on‑site start‑up and long‑term support.
• Interface internally with account managers, gas specialists, equipment engineers and marketing and externally with customers and vendors.
• Develop training material and conduct training sessions; mentor junior and senior engineers.
• Contribute to patent development or other intellectual property for Airgas.

Position Overview

Airgas Inc. seeks a Principal Applications Engineer to provide project, applications and equipment engineering support for designated applications areas within AES. Requirements

• Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum Experience: 60 months of relevant experience with technical sales of gas applications solutions and equipment to the metal treatment and metal processing industry.
• Travel: 50% domestic travel.
• Salary: $165,000.00 to $185,000.00.
• Worksite: 3737 Worsham Avenue, Suite 800, Long Beach, CA 90808.
