Alpha is opening a new campus in the city, and we’re seeking a leader who knows Springfield’s educational landscape firsthand. You will lead a team of 15+ Guides who coach and motivate students while Alpha’s EdTech platform delivers all instruction. No teaching. All leadership. Pure execution.

Your objective: guarantee that every student loves school, learns at twice the speed of traditional classrooms, and develops essential life skills. This Principal role differs fundamentally from conventional positions. You will uphold rigorous standards, make decisions rooted in data, and create Springfield’s leading school from the ground up.

What You Will Be Doing

• Launch the Springfield, MA campus: Execute Alpha’s three core promises for 100+ students from day one, maintaining operational excellence across all functions.
• Facilitate live workshops with K-8 students on life skills: Lead one-hour sessions covering public speaking, growth mindset, and feedback skills. Follow Alpha’s established playbook to ensure students develop competencies traditional schools overlook—while keeping sessions engaging.
• Drive every student to reach 100% of their goals: Develop personalized motivational frameworks for each student. Apply data-driven methods to address resistance and sustain engagement with the Alpha platform. Success is defined by every student achieving their targets.
• Coach Guides to high performance and uphold Alpha’s quality standards: Leverage data to pinpoint performance gaps, provide specific feedback, and monitor progress. Execute difficult decisions when performance does not meet expectations and set the standard as the campus leader.
• Execute data-driven campus leadership: Review performance data across staff, operations, parent engagement, and culture. Identify challenges, perform root cause analysis, consult relevant stakeholders, and implement measurable interventions. Monitor outcomes and iterate based on findings.

What You Won’t Be Doing

• Teaching or tutoring students. Students engage with Alpha’s self-directed EdTech platform rather than receiving passive instruction from adults.
• Creating lesson plans or curriculum. Alpha’s playbook already exists. Your focus is leadership and execution, not content design.
• Overseeing budgets or recruitment. Finance and hiring are managed centrally. Your sole focus is campus performance and culture.
• Serving as the subject-matter expert. This role is 80% leader and motivator, 20% educator. You inspire action; the platform delivers instruction.

Basic Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Psychology, Business, or related field. Master’s preferred.
• At least 7 years of experience in education, learning and development, coaching, business, or related field.
• Proven experience building and managing teams of at least 15 people with complete hiring and firing authority.
• Deep knowledge of the Springfield, MA education landscape.
• Experience working with youth ages 5 – 14.
• Strong data analysis skills and demonstrated ability to use metrics for decision-making and continuous improvement.
• Passion for transforming education. Conviction that the traditional system is fundamentally broken.
• Startup mindset: thrives under pressure, adapts to new situations, and is comfortable building systems from the ground up.
• Dynamic and engaging speaker who captures the attention of large groups of students or staff.
• Ability to connect with K-8 students, understand their interests and culture, and model positive behavior.
