Sandisk seeks a seasoned Principal Engineer to establish and lead an AI Systems & Performance Lab in Milpitas, focusing on identifying and eliminating AI bottlenecks across real-world workloads, software stacks, and diverse hardware configurations. The role emphasizes technical leadership and hands-on innovation over broad management.

You will define the lab's vision, develop methodologies, and deliver insights shaping system architecture, platform strategy, and future silicon directions.

Formación

• 15+ years of industry experience in systems engineering, AI infrastructure, performance engineering, or hardware/software co-design.
• Deep hands-on experience with AI workloads and modern DL frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow, JAX).
• Strong understanding of end-to-end system performance, compute architectures, memory and interconnects.
• Proven ability to identify, analyze and root-cause performance bottlenecks across heterogeneous systems.
• Demonstrated technical leadership with director-level influence; can drive strategy without large teams.

Responsabilidades

• Establish and lead the AI Systems & Performance Lab with a clear technical vision and charter.
• Drive end-to-end analysis of AI training and inference workloads across models, runtimes, and stacks.
• Identify performance bottlenecks in compute, memory, interconnects, storage and software layers.
• Develop repeatable root-cause methodologies for heterogeneous platforms (CPU, GPU, NPU, accelerators).
• Architect benchmarking and profiling frameworks and ensure rigorous, reproducible analyses.
• Collaborate with hardware, platform, and software teams to influence roadmaps and investments.
