Job summary

Walker & Dunlop’s WDTech is seeking a Principal AI Software Engineer to shape our AI-driven Loan Origination and Servicing platforms. You will design scalable apps, agentic workflows, and real-time insights, while mentoring teammates to raise engineering standards.

You will own end-to-end AI initiatives, drive model selection, and collaborate across teams to deploy robust AI capabilities that enhance efficiency and client value. This role offers remote work with strong engineering mentorship.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of software development experience with production systems.
• Bachelor's or master's in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Extensive experience delivering production AI/ML systems with LLM-powered apps and agentic workflows.
• Deep experience with modern agent frameworks and SDKs (Claude Agent SDK, LangGraph, Pydantic AI).
• Experience with prompt/context engineering (RAG, embeddings, hybrid search, reranking).
• Experience with model evaluation, observability and guardrails for production AI systems.
• Experience with agentic development tools (skills, subagents, harness configs).
• Experience in Real Estate, Financial Services or Capital Markets preferred.

Responsibilities

• Own complex AI and platform initiatives end-to-end, delivering business capabilities.
• Design, build, and maintain agentic workflows for critical processes (loan intake, document review, servicing).
• Lead model selection and routing, evaluate models for cost, latency and quality.
• Define interfaces used by other teams (tool servers, subagents, long-running state).
• Establish evaluation and reliability practices; practice regression testing and monitoring.
