Job summary

Extreme Networks seeks a Principal Software Systems Engineer to shape the future of intelligent networking. You will lead development of core platforms powering real-time data processing, AI experiences, and agentic automation across enterprise networks.

The role requires 10+ years in software engineering, expertise in distributed systems and cloud platforms, and hands-on leadership. Seattle or San Jose location with a market-competitive compensation package.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• 10+ years of software development lifecycle experience, including architecture, design, coding, testing, deployment, and operations.
• 10+ years programming in at least one language (Python/Java/Go/C++).
• 3+ years leading design/architecture of large-scale distributed systems on cloud platforms.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive the technical vision across products and platforms in intelligent networking, distributed systems, real-time data processing, and AI.
• Oversee end-to-end software lifecycle and participate in reviews, design, and code reviews.
• Design and build high-performance production services for real-time data and AI platforms, with scalable data pipelines and microservices.
• Mentor engineers, set technical direction, and foster innovation, collaboration, and operational excellence.
