Job summary

CarMax seeks a Principal Engineer, Quality, to lead quality engineering across multiple Agile streams. You will design robust automation frameworks, mentor teams, and drive AI-powered testing innovations enterprise-wide.

This role shapes testing strategy, metrics, and governance to ensure high-quality software reaching production. You will collaborate with product, engineering, and data partners to embed AI copilots and self-healing automation, accelerating release velocity while maintaining

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field with 7+ years of experience or Master's with 5+ years of experience.
• 8+ years of experience in Quality Engineering with automation frameworks.
• Proficiency with modern test automation tools and web tech (HTML, JS/TS).
• Experience architecting AI/ML or generative AI in production testing environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead organization-wide test automation efforts with scalability in mind.
• Create and implement test strategies for multiple teams focusing on automation.
• Drive modern testing methodologies and shift-left practices.
• Develop and report key quality metrics to stakeholders.
• Design and productionize AI-driven testing systems and autonomous test agents.
• Integrate LLM/agent-based systems into CI/CD and QE workflows.
