Job summary

Improvado, a fast-growing Series A startup, seeks a Principal Engineer to set the technical direction for AI-assisted engineering across the Platform Team. You will own core Python-based data extraction and load infrastructure, mentor engineers, and contribute code while shaping agentic coding and LLM tooling adoption.

This hands-on role requires 7+ years in backend engineering with production systems ownership, strong distributed systems experience, and fluency in English.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of backend engineering experience
• Experience owning production systems at principal/architect level
• Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development and agentic coding
• Strong distributed systems background with Kubernetes, Temporal, and message queues
• Experience building secure, reliable systems with observability and incident response
• Solid SQL and query optimization for PostgreSQL and ClickHouse
• Ability to thrive in a fast-moving startup environment
• Fluency in English

Responsibilities

• Own platform architecture for data extraction, load, and pipelines serving 500+ integrations
• Identify bottlenecks and drive scale, performance, and reliability improvements
• Design and implement agentic development frameworks for AI-assisted coding and rollout
• Establish coding standards, validation, and architectural guardrails
• Mentor engineers and uplift the team on AI-assisted development practices
• Collaborate cross-functionally with product and AI teams on integration capabilities
