Job summary

Innovaccer Inc. is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to design and build the most complex, high-impact backend services, data pipelines, and AI-powered features.

You will own architecture end-to-end, mentor engineers, and lead by doing while collaborating with product, clinical, and engineering peers to deliver scalable healthcare solutions. This senior role emphasizes writing production code, guiding architecture decisions, and balancing performance, security, and cost.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's/Master's/PhD in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 10+ years of software engineering experience with a track record of building and shipping large-scale production systems.
• Hands-on coding in one or more modern languages (Python, Java, Go).
• Strong design skills across distributed systems, APIs, data-intensive architectures.
• Experience integrating AI/ML into products in production environments.
• Experience operating production systems: CI/CD, IaC, monitoring, incident response.
• Familiarity with healthcare data standards (FHIR/HL7) and regulatory compliance (HIPAA, GDPR).
• Excellent problem-solving and communication to align engineers and stakeholders.
• Cloud experience (AWS, GCP, Azure) and container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and ship complex backend components, APIs, and data pipelines.
• End-to-end AI/ML-powered features including data flows and model integration.
• Own technical architecture for major systems with a focus on scalability, performance, security, and cost.
• Lead by example on SDLC best practices: code quality, testing, security, observability.
• Build resilient services that integrate across products and healthcare systems.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA and GDPR in implementations.
• Debug, profile, and harden production systems, ensuring reliability and incident response.
• Mentor senior engineers through design reviews and code reviews.
• Collaborate with product and clinical stakeholders to translate needs into sound designs.
• Evaluate technologies and tooling balancing capability, cost, risk, and time-to-value.
