Job summary

United States Digital Space LLC is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to lead architecture and execution for our Network Detection and Response (NDR) platform. You will drive complex initiatives, mentor engineers, and deliver scalable AI/ML software addressing sophisticated cyber threats.

You will work with data scientists, threat researchers, and cloud teams to accelerate ML experimentation and production workflows, influencing roadmap and technical strategy while upholding engineering

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field or equivalent practical experience.
• 8+ years of professional software engineering, with at least 2 in Principal/Lead/Staff roles shipping enterprise-grade software.
• Expert-level Python and Go programming for production-quality code.
• Experience in machine learning, statistics, or related quantitative discipline.
• Experience building/operating production AI/ML systems, including lifecycle management and data pipelines.
• Experience applying ML/data science to cybersecurity use cases such as anomaly detection or threat classification.
• Advanced understanding of threat detection methodologies, IDS, and incident response workflows.

Responsibilities

• Design, write, and maintain high-performance software to deploy AI/ML models analyzing network traffic.
• Design autonomous AI agent architectures and multi-agent workflows.
• Collaborate with data scientists, threat researchers, and cloud teams to build high-performance services and tooling.
• Lead engineering excellence through code/design reviews and establish standards and best practices.
• Lead cross-functional technical initiatives and communicate with senior leadership and external stakeholders.
• Contribute to product strategy with technical insight on roadmap, build-vs-buy, and competitive differentiation.
• Provide mentorship to software engineers and foster a culture of learning and discipline.
