Job summary

Robots & Pencils is seeking a full-time remote Principal AI Engineering Architect to lead the technical strategy for cloud, data, and AI/ML systems at scale. You will define architecture, mentor engineers, and guide high-stakes decisions in production-grade multi-agent AI solutions.

You will design production-grade multi-agent architectures, oversee agent orchestration and inter-agent communication, and translate complex AI concepts into actionable plans for leadership and clients.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering with at least 5 years in technical leadership and 4+ years in AI/ML in production.
• Hands-on experience designing and shipping production multi-agent AI systems; familiarity with AWS GenAI offerings.
• Strong background in microservices, serverless, event-driven architectures; IaC and CI/CD practices.

• Architect and implement production-grade multi-agent AI systems, focusing on agent orchestration, tool use, and inter-agent communication
• Collaborate with leadership and clients as the principal technical voice, translating complex AI concepts into actionable strategies for diverse stakeholders

Required qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience, including 5 years in technical leadership roles and 4+ years focused on AI/ML systems in production
• Deep, hands-on expertise in designing and shipping production multi-agent AI systems and familiarity with AWS GenAI offerings
• Strong background in microservices, serverless, and event-driven systems, with proficiency in infrastructure as code and CI/CD practices
• Extensive experience in data architecture, including relational and big data systems, as well as data modeling and ETL/ELT pipelines
• Mastery of AI frameworks and orchestration tools for building agentic systems, along with a solid understanding of AI safety and responsible AI principles
