Job summary

UiPath in Bellevue is seeking a Principal Software Engineer for Intelligent Document Processing & Context Grounding. You will lead the design and delivery of AI-powered document understanding, retrieval, and knowledge grounding across the UiPath platform.

This hands-on leadership role requires shipping production AI systems, mentoring engineers, and shaping architectural direction while ensuring security, governance, and performance at scale.

Qualifications

• 10+ years building large-scale software systems.
• Significant experience shipping production AI products.
• Strong backend engineering in Python and/or C#.
• Deep understanding of distributed systems and cloud-native architectures.
• Experience building scalable APIs, microservices, and event-driven systems.
• Knowledge of retrieval systems including RAG, embeddings, vector search, evaluation, and LLM-powered apps.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver core services that power enterprise document understanding, retrieval, knowledge grounding, and RAG.
• Own systems for ingestion, parsing, chunking, indexing, retrieval, knowledge management, and evaluation.
• Improve retrieval quality, answer quality, groundedness, attribution, latency, scalability, and cost efficiency.
• Architect highly available, multi-tenant cloud services processing large volumes of content.
• Mentor senior engineers, influence architectural direction, and participate in critical design reviews.
• Collaborate with Product Managers and AI teams to turn opportunities into production capabilities.
