Job summary

MiniMed is building a lean, high-leverage AI & Data Science team and seeks a Principal AI Engineer to lead hands-on AI/ML work, deploying models and agents from prototype to live production in a regulated medical-device context.

You will review designs, establish reusable patterns, and ensure end-to-end ownership, with collaboration across Product, AI & Data Science, and Model Operations for steady-state operation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field with 8+ years of experience (or advanced degree with 6+ years).
• Demonstrated delivery of ML/AI models to production and end‑to‑end ownership of AI/ML systems.

Responsibilities

• Prototype fast; prove life for AI/ML models, agents, and tools using real data and workflows.
• Take models to production; deploy on the MIA stack with guardrails and observable patterns.
• Integrate AI components with enterprise systems (APIs, SSO/SAML/OAuth, Salesforce, SAP).
• Establish reusable patterns for agent design, tool-calling, retrieval, and evaluation harnesses.
• Contribute learnings to platform improvements and roadmap for rapid future deployments.
• Partner with PM to decide what to build and when to stop, in a regulated environment.
