Job summary

United States Digital Space LLC is seeking a Principal Engineer to lead AI tooling across our engineering teams. The role is hands-on, with ownership from roadmap to delivery and strong mentorship responsibilities to uplift the team.

You will ship features for AI coding tools, maintain internal platforms, and drive adoption of AI-enabled development across the org. A deep focus on DevEx is highly valued.

Qualifications

• Strong coding ability in TypeScript, Go, Rust and Bash.
• Excellent debugging skills.
• Source control experience including branching, merging, and rebasing.
• Experience deploying and operating on Kubernetes or a similar platform.
• Comfort breaking down complex problems and driving them to done.
• Mentoring others and raising the bar for teammates.
• Interest in building tools that improve Developer Experience (DevEx).

Responsibilities

• Ship features for AI coding tools and related tooling.
• Build and improve AI and developer-observability tools.
• Own internal MCP servers (GitLab, Confluence, Jira, Backstage, etc.).
• Build AI agents and maintain context engineering assets.
• Wire AI tooling into CI/CD pipelines and manage security controls.
• Mentor teammates and provide design feedback; end-to-end project ownership.
