Job summary

Mitratech is seeking a Principal AI Engineer to guide a distributed team in building scalable, AI-integrated software solutions. You will provide architectural oversight, system design, and AI strategy, mentoring global developers and decomposing complex features into clear tasks to accelerate delivery.

This 100% remote role in the United States offers the opportunity to shape how AI tools are used in modern software delivery, with an anticipated pay range of $180K–$200K annually USD, plus

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering experience with design/architectural leadership.
• 2+ years working with AI/ML models in production.
• Strong background in backend or full-stack technologies (Python).
• Experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools (Claude Code, Devin AI, GH Copilot, GPT APIs).
• Strong system design with focus on RAG/Agentic systems and task decomposition.
• Proven experience leading distributed engineering teams.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication.
• Exposure to AI agent frameworks (LangChain, LangGraph, CrewAI, AutoGPT, AgentCore).
• Experience with DDD or MCPs/Micro-services architecture.
• Experience with vector/graph databases and embeddings.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for design, development, and deployment of AI-enabled software.
• Architect scalable, modular systems and communicate decisions across services.
• Design and build AI agents and APIs to enhance platforms; refine prompt strategies.
• Translate product goals into actionable engineering tasks and review code for performance and security.
• Mentor globally distributed developers and promote AI tool adoption and clean code practices.
• Collaborate on CI/CD to integrate AI-assisted review and testing steps.
