Job summary

University of Wisconsin-Madison's Wisconsin National Primate Research Center seeks a Veterinary Technician I/II to provide clinical care for marmoset and macaque monkeys, including suturing, minor surgeries, ultrasounds and dental work. Experience with nonhuman primates is a plus, but all levels will be considered.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year experience as a veterinary technician in a hospital or research setting.

Responsibilities

• Monitor animal health status and maintain medical records.
• Provide nursing care and assist veterinarians with procedures.
• Support supply inventory and ordering.
• Document routine and complex animal care procedures and medications.
• Assist in training of staff and supervise students as needed.
• Maintain records for medical procedures and billing.
• Collect specimens and perform basic laboratory tests as ordered.
