Job summary

University of California, Davis invites applications for an Animal Technician at the California National Primate Research Center in Davis. The role supports routine animal care for nonhuman primates, health monitoring, feeding, and environmental enrichment in outdoor and indoor facilities, under supervision.

The position emphasizes adherence to NIH/OLAW/AAALAC standards, safety procedures, and collaboration with Principal Investigators to provide technical and experimental support while working

Qualifications

• Six months to one year of relevant work experience in animal care.
• Experience in outdoor animal husbandry and care of laboratory animals.
• Ability to handle laboratory animals in a manner that avoids injury and controls disease.
• Ability to recognize signs of illness and abnormal behavior.
• Ability to capture animals in a net within a half acre enclosure on uneven terrain.

Responsibilities

• Routine animal care for outdoor and indoor primate facilities.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation.
• Provide experimental assistance as needed by PIs.
• Assist with modifications and repairs to outdoor caging structures.
