Job summary

The University of Wisconsin–Madison is seeking a Research Program Manager (B) to oversee the nonhuman primate husbandry program at the Wisconsin National Primate Research Center. The CSUH will guide colony management, environmental enrichment, and collaboration with veterinary and research support staff to support core programs.

Qualifications

• Four years' demonstrated experience managing or assisting in the management of a large nonhuman primate colony (BA/BS required).
• For candidates without a BA/BS, a minimum of eight years' demonstrated experience and AAALAS certification are required.
• Experience supervising a large staff of animal care technicians and strong teamwork are essential.
• Knowledge of biomedical and behavioral research, animal welfare regulations, and solid administrative abilities expected.

Responsibilities

• Assists in development, coordination, and facilitation of trainings and workshops for internal and external audiences.
• Plans and directs the day-to-day operational activities of one or multiple research programs or units.
• Develops policies, procedures, and institutional agreements on behalf of the program.
• Monitors program budgets and approves unit expenditures.
• Serves as a unit liaison among internal and external stakeholder groups; promotes achievements of scholars.
• Plans, develops, and implements processes and protocols to support research aims.
• Exercises supervisory authority for at least 2.0 FTE employees.
