Job summary

Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) is seeking a Laboratory Animal Technician I to provide husbandry, health care, and research support for animals at ONPRC. You will learn to perform routine tasks, assist with diagnostics, and maintain facilities while coordinating with investigative staff.

Regular weekends and varied shifts are possible; successful candidates work professionally and with care for animal welfare. Training and safety are emphasized throughout employment.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read and follow written and oral instructions.
• Ability to communicate effectively with technical and professional staff.
• Experience or training in providing support for research activities.
• Must perform general animal husbandry duties and assist investigators as needed.
• Valid driver’s license required to operate vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine animal husbandry tasks including feeding, watering and restraint.
• Assist with health management procedures and diagnostic activities.
• Help with facility maintenance and supplies inventory.
• Observe animals and report abnormalities to staff.
• Support investigators and operate equipment such as cage washers and autoclaves.
