Job summary

The Phoenix Zoo is seeking a Keeper I, II - Primates in the Living Collections department. The role focuses on the safety, health and well-being of primates through documented husbandry practices, supporting designated public experiences, and mentoring staff and volunteers.

The Keeper II adds collaboration in guest experiences and animal programs, with responsibilities across enrichment, training, health monitoring, and coordination with maintenance and other departments to meet the zoo's

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Life Science or equivalent experience preferred.
• High school diploma required.
• Behavioral enrichment and operant conditioning experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide quality guest service with a WILD attitude.
• Perform routine husbandry and report health or behavioral abnormalities.
• Assist in development of SOPs for restraint, introduction/breeding, and husbandry care.
• Perform enrichment activities and animal training per SOPs.
• Participate in non-routine health and husbandry activities (transports, introductions, restraint, treatment).
• Respond to animal emergencies according to protocols.
• Perform minor repairs to exhibits and coordinate with maintenance.
• Collaborate with staff to support public experiences and events.
• Develop and conduct interactive animal programs with guests.
