Job summary

Newport Healthcare is seeking a Primary Therapist to join our clinical team and deliver meaningful therapy within our integrative treatment model. You will facilitate individual, family, and group sessions, coordinate family orientations, and develop thorough assessments and safety plans for new admissions.

You will collaborate across disciplines to align treatment goals, maintain precise documentation, and participate in ongoing supervision.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or related field is required.
  • Board registration (LMHCA, LICSWA, AMFT) or Psychologist Associate in state of service; licensed preferred.
  • Experience with individual, family, and/or group therapy with young adults/adolescents.
  • Experience with mental health, substance use, eating disorders or trauma-informed treatment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Therapeutic Facilitation: Facilitate individual, family, and group therapy sessions using the center's model and Attachment-Based Family Therapy principles.
  • Family Liaison: Serve as primary clinical contact for families, ensuring clear communication throughout treatment.
  • Family Orientation Coordination: Lead Family Orientations, Welcome Presentations, and Family Support Groups.
  • Comprehensive Assessment: Perform risk assessments, develop safety plans, and complete biopsychosocial assessments and treatment plans.
  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Work with treatment team to set goals and review 30-day treatment plans.
  • Documentation Management: Maintain accurate clinical records including assessments and discharge summaries.
  • Crisis Intervention: Conduct risk/crisis assessments and implement interventions as needed.
  • Team Engagement: Participate in weekly meetings, staff events, and clinical supervision.
  • Organizational Representation: Represent Newport Healthcare at meetings and conferences.

What You’ll Do

Role Overview:

As a Primary Therapist, you will play a crucial role within our clinical team, providing meaningful therapy that makes a real difference in the lives of our clients. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Therapeutic Facilitation: Facilitate individual, family, and group therapy sessions using Newport Healthcare’s unique clinical model and the principles of Attachment-Based Family Therapy.

  • Family Liaison: Act as the primary clinical contact for families, ensuring clear and proactive communication throughout the treatment process to enhance family involvement and support.

  • Family Orientation Coordination: Lead Family Orientations, Welcome Presentations, and Family Support Groups to create a structured and supportive environment for families navigating the treatment process.

  • Comprehensive Assessment: Perform risk assessments and develop safety plans upon admission, followed by thorough biopsychosocial assessments and treatment plans, ensuring timely and accurate documentation.

  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Work collaboratively with the treatment team to establish and monitor treatment goals, participating in regular 30-day treatment plan reviews to ensure alignment and progress.

  • Documentation Management: Maintain precise and up-to-date clinical records, including assessments, progress notes, and discharge summaries, in accordance with organizational standards.

  • Crisis Intervention: Conduct risk or crisis assessments and implement appropriate interventions to manage acute situations effectively.

  • Team Engagement: Participate in weekly treatment team meetings, staff gatherings, and clinical supervision to promote a collaborative and supportive team environment.

  • Organizational Representation: Represent Newport Healthcare at professional meetings, trainings, and conferences, advocating for our mission and clinical practices within the broader community.

What Makes You a Great Fit
  • Master’s Degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or related field or enrollment in Doctorate program from an accredited or state approved graduate school required
  • Board registered (LMHCA, LICSWA, AMFT) or Psychologic Associate in the state in which services are provided required. Licensed Highly Preferred.
  • Experience with individual, family, and/or group therapy with young adults/adolescents.
  • Experience with mental health, substance abuse, eating disorders, or trauma-informed treatment preferred.

Compensation for a licensed therapist ranges from $80,675- $116,094 per year depending on education, licensure and experience. Non-licensed therapist compensation ranges from $38.79- $55.81 an hour.
