Job summary

Newport Healthcare is seeking a Primary Therapist to conduct assessments, develop treatment plans, and facilitate therapy sessions for clients, including collaboration with families and treatment teams.

You will lead family orientations and support groups, conduct intake assessments, and participate in supervision to maintain Newport’s clinical model and best practices.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or related field.
• Board registration (APCC, LAPC, ASW, AMFT, MHCA) or Psychologist Associate in the state required.
• Experience with individual, family, and/or group therapy with young adults/adolescents preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct assessments and develop individualized treatment and safety plans.
• Facilitate individual, group, and family therapy sessions.
• Collaborate with clients’ treatment teams and connect with families.

What You’ll Do

The Primary Therapist conducts assessments, develops treatment plans, and facilitates therapy sessions. You’ll collaborate with your clients’ treatment teams and connect directly with families. Key responsibilities include:

• Serving as a compassionate, informative point of contact for clients’ family members
• Facilitating individual, group, and family therapy sessions, within the framework of Newport Healthcare’s clinical model and the Attachment-Based Family Therapy model
• Leading family orientations, welcome presentations, and family support groups
• Conducting intake assessments and developing individualized treatment and safety plans
• Participating in treatment team meetings, staff meetings, and clinical supervision sessions

What Makes You a Great Fit

• Master’s Degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or related field or enrollment in Doctorate program from an accredited or state approved graduate school required.
• Board registered (APCC, LAPC, ASW, AMFT, MHCA) or Psychologic Associate in the state in which services are provided required.
• Experience with individual, family, and/or group therapy with young adults/adolescents required.
• Experience with mental health, substance abuse, eating disorders or trauma-informed treatment preferred.
