Job summary

Hanley Foundation in West Palm Beach, FL currently seeks a Primary Therapist to join our state-of-the-art addiction treatment facility. You will provide individual, family, and group therapy, crisis intervention, and coordination with the Clinical Director to ensure the best care for clients.

The role requires experience with substance use and mental health disorders, strong assessment skills, and a commitment to evidence-based practices.

Responsibilities

  • Provide the primary therapy under direction of Clinical Director.
  • Coordinate treatment services with Clinical Director.
  • Utilize evidence-based approaches to treat mental health and substance use disorders.
  • Conduct comprehensive diagnostic evaluations including social histories.
  • Provide and communicate aftercare recommendations.
  • Ensure information is shared with patients, families, and Continuum of Care weekly.
  • Coordinate with Clinical Director for consistency of treatment.
  • Conduct intakes and screenings for potential patients.
  • Develop patient treatment plans and create discharge summaries.
  • Facilitate groups and lectures for patients.
  • Attend staff meetings and be part of on-call rotation.
  • Report incidents following state standards and policies.
  • Maintain accurate records for audits and confidentiality.

Hanley Foundation is a non-profit organization that aims to eliminate addiction through prevention, treatment, advocacy, and recovery support. We are currently seeking a Therapist to join our growing team at our state-of-the-art substance use/mental health treatment facility in sunny West Palm Beach, Florida.

The Primary Therapist will provide individual, family, and group therapy, as well as crisis intervention, and consultation services. In this role, you will collaborate with other staff members to ensure patients receive the best care possible. Duties & Responsibilities for a Therapist:
  • Provide therapy under the direction of the Clinical Director.
  • Coordinate alcohol and drug use treatment services with the Clinical Director.
  • Utilize evidence-based therapeutic approaches to treat a variety of mental health conditions and substance use disorders.
  • Conduct comprehensive diagnostic evaluations that include social histories and other required treatment documentation.
  • Provide and communicate aftercare recommendations to patients, family members, and the Continuum of Care department.
  • Ensure that all relevant information is provided to the patients, the parents, or the patient’s managing conservator weekly.
  • Coordinate with the Clinical Director to ensure consistency of treatment.
  • Conduct intakes and screenings on potential patients.
  • Develop patient's treatment plans.
  • Create discharge summaries and aftercare recommendations.
  • Facilitate groups and lectures for patients.
  • Conduct individual therapy sessions weekly for patients on caseload.
  • Attend staff meetings as scheduled and as needed.
  • Report all alleged incidents of abuse or neglect following all state standards and accrediting bodies.
  • Ensure that records are accurate and timely, following Hanley Foundation policies, and are available for audits.
  • Protect patient’s rights.
  • Uphold Hanley Foundation Policies and Procedures.
  • Maintain patient/potential patient confidentiality per Hanley Policy.
  • Complete UR and insurance reviews for their caseload.
  • Complete Marchman Act assessments and all related requirements (court appearances, report write-up, etc).
  • Be part of the on-call rotation team.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Strong clinical assessment and intervention skills.
  • Work experience in 12-step immersion program preferred.
  • Experience with evidence-based treatment approaches for mental health and substance use disorders.
  • Knowledge, experience, and competence in the specific areas of adult treatment, adult co-morbid complications, and family systems theory.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to cultural competency and providing therapy services to a diverse patient population.
  • Computer literate and familiar with Microsoft products and network components.
Education/Experience/Qualifications:
There are 3 different tiers for our Therapists, with varying pay ranges and qualifications.
  • If in recovery, one (1) year of continuous sobriety is required.
Associate Level:
  • Master’s degree preferred; or
  • Bachelor’s degree with three (3) years’ experience and/or State Certification OR completed Hanley Center clinical internship and no more than 6 months from graduation and registered intern required.
  • At least one (1) year experience working in a substance abuse treatment facility required.
Therapist I:
  • Master’s degree and registered intern or pursuing MCAP (must complete within 3 years)
  • At least one (1) year experience working in a substance abuse treatment facility required.
Therapist II:
  • Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field, focusing on mental health and substance use disorders.
  • Florida State license to practice as a therapist (LCSW, LMHC, LMFT)
  • At least three to five (3-5) years of experience working in a substance use treatment facility.
