Overview

Harmony Health Group was founded in 2015 with the mission of providing a safe, supportive, and therapeutic environment for individuals struggling with substance use disorders. Our first facility offered a flexible continuum of care designed to help clients navigate each step of their recovery journey. Since then, we’ve grown to include co-occurring and primary mental health treatment, expanding access to high-quality, evidence-based behavioral health care delivered by a team of dedicated professionals.

Job Summary

The Primary Therapist provides individual and group therapy sessions for the organization’s clients. The Primary Therapist guides and directs client sessions, prepares group notes, supports clinical necessity, and progress toward treatment plan goals. Maintains open communication with facility staff, attending clinicians and physicians, patients, and families.

Education And Experience
  • A minimum of 2 years treating substance use and/or mental health disorders.
  • 2+ years utilizing EMR software, KIPU (preferred).
  • Experience treating mental health disorders or related work experience (highly desired).
  • Required Independent Licensure (State Dependent): LMHC, LCMHC, LPC, LMFT, LCSW, LICSW.
  • Highly desired but not required (State Dependent): Addiction Certifications such as MCAP, CAP, CAC, LCADC, CADC, LADC, NCAC, MAC, LCAS, CSAC.
Duties/Responsibilities
  • Complete psychosocial intake within the appropriate timeframe.
  • Conduct suicide screening and assessments.
  • Complete the master treatment plan within the appropriate timeframe.
  • Counsel clients individually or in group sessions to assist in overcoming dependencies, adjusting to life, or making changes.
  • Collaborate with other staff to perform clinical assessments or develop treatment plans.
  • De-escalate AMA and other patient problems.
  • Document all activities in the patient medical record and file notes daily for utilization review purposes.
  • Counsel family members to assist in understanding, dealing with, or supporting clients.
  • Attend daily staff meetings to enhance communication with clinical staff regarding program and patient issues.
  • Participate in required staff training (minimum 20 hours).
  • Complete all assigned paperwork accurately and timely.
  • Communicate with other staff as necessary to promote quality patient care.
  • Maintain clean, properly supplied, and efficient work areas.
  • Observe and report safety and maintenance issues.
  • Interact with patients respectfully while maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor at all times.
  • Exercise sound professional judgment and seek assistance as necessary to manage patient behavior.
  • Protect patient privacy in accordance with policies and applicable laws; understand and apply PHI handling requirements.
  • Report concerns regarding privacy policies without retaliation to a supervisor.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Required Skills/Abilities
  • Knowledge of addictions and mental health complications.
  • Familiarity with community resources supporting physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual health, economic security, employment, social and family interdependence, and cultural identity.
  • Experience utilizing DSM-5.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of referral procedures and admission criteria for health care and community providers.
  • Ability to network and collaborate with healthcare and social/cultural agencies.
  • Problem solving, stress management, ethics, and team-building skills.
  • Knowledge of alcohol and other drugs and their impact on individuals and families.
  • Ability to determine if a medical emergency exists and take appropriate action.
  • Understanding of emergency procedures for overdoses and withdrawals.
  • Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations on confidentiality and ethics.
  • Flexibility to adapt to schedule changes and additional responsibilities as part of the treatment team.
  • Ability to establish rapport, gather data, determine readiness for treatment, and apply criteria for diagnosis of substance use disorders.
  • Ability to screen for toxicity, withdrawal, and safety concerns; set measurable treatment goals with clients; uphold ethical standards; and participate in ongoing professional development.
