Job summary

Council for Relationships is seeking a Primary Therapist to provide direct counseling to individuals, couples, and families. Qualifications

  • Competence with chemical dependency, screening, referral, and integrated support.
  • Experience in case management and coordinating services with multidisciplinary providers.
  • Knowledge of dual diagnosis and integrated mental health and substance use treatment.
  • Strong communication, documentation, and professional boundaries.

Role Description

The Primary Therapist is a full‑time, virtual or on‑site role located in Philadelphia, PA, providing direct counseling services to individuals, couples, and families. This role includes conducting intake assessments, developing and implementing treatment plans, and coordinating care with internal and external providers as needed. The Primary Therapist will manage a caseload, maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation, and participate in case consultations and interdisciplinary team meetings. Responsibilities also include addressing chemical dependency and dual diagnosis needs, connecting clients to community resources, and contributing to a supportive, client‑centered environment aligned with Council for Relationships’ mission and standards of care.

Qualifications
  • Now accepting graduate interns, pre‑licensed therapists, and licensed therapists
  • Demonstrated ability in Treatment Planning, including assessment, goal setting, and ongoing review of client progress.
  • Knowledge and experience in Social Work practices, including resource linkage, advocacy, and systems‑based intervention.
  • Competence in working with Chemical Dependency concerns, including screening, referral, and integrated therapeutic support.
  • Experience in Case Management, coordinating services, and collaborating with multidisciplinary providers.
  • Clinical familiarity with Dual Diagnosis, integrating mental health and substance use treatment approaches.
  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a related behavioral health field; relevant state licensure
  • Training or experience in family systems or relational therapy models strongly beneficial.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and documentation skills, with the ability to maintain professional boundaries and ethical standards.
  • Commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive care for clients from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and engage in ongoing professional development.
